Protection and rights of children

Based on the four fundamental principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child :
  • Non-discrimination
  • Priority given to the best interests of the child
  • The right to live, survive and develop
  • Respect for the views of the child
IDF Corporate has focused its main areas of action for the protection of children's rights on :
  • Child victims of abuse and sexual exploitation
  • Working children
  • Street children
  • Children with disabilities
  • Juvenile justice
  • Children in armed conflict
  • Orphaned children in precarious situations
Our projects and programmes are developed along three main lines:
  • Promotion of children's rights
  • Support for particularly vulnerable children, prevention
  • Intervention against the various forms of exploitation and abuse of which children may be victims

Our projects and programmes include a cross-cutting education component, as the right to education in the broadest sense is a priority for the realisation of children's rights. They also focus on building resilience in children who have suffered trauma. A Resilience Tutors programme has been developed to help children find the internal and external resources to rebuild their lives.

Equal access to health is also one of our priorities and special attention is paid to this issue.
